Music Minister
Job Description
​Morton Memorial United Methodist Church is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic person to lead our Music Ministry, directing the choir and serving as pianist. The position has annual compensation of $20,000 - $24,000 (based on experience) for someone able to competently handle both directing and accompanying roles.
Our choir is a vibrant, faithful group. We enjoy music, one another, and sharing the joy of the Lord in song.
Responsibilities include:

Weekly choir rehearsals for 90 minutes and 30 minute rehearsal Sunday before worship.

Additional choir rehearsals may be added for preparation of material for Christmas, Easter or other special occasions.

Working with individuals or small groups for special music from time to time.
​

Working with the pastor to invite guest musicians to the church on occasion.
​

Approving music for church weddings per our Wedding Guidelines.
​

Selecting choir anthems, teaching the choir, and providing a positive and nurturing atmosphere with a welcoming environment for a diverse group of persons.

Selecting congregational hymns in conjunction with the pastor.

Maintaining Morton’s music library.
​

Playing beautiful, inspirational processionals, offertory music, and recessionals.

Being in ministry with the pastor and other church leaders to produce meaningful, joyful worship experiences.
​
The ideal candidate will have two years or more experience in a church setting.
